The Evening Standard's best LED kit

Light-accelerated whitening, made for home.

Developed by dental professionals, on the same principle as in-chair light whitening. Paint on the enamel-safe gel, then switch on the LED accelerator light: the blue light accelerates the gel to reach deep, set-in stains in just 10 minutes.

Sensitive teeth

Sensitivity-free.

Whitening shouldn't hurt, so comfort is built into both the gel and the light.

Comfort built into the gel

Our formula is designed to help prevent sensitivity while it whitens, so you can stay comfortable from the first treatment, without the “zings” many people feel with in-chair whitening at the dentist.

Red light for comfort

Alongside the blue light that speeds up whitening, the kit has a red LED setting designed for a more comfortable treatment. Use the two together for deep stain removal without the sensitivity.

Still deciding?

Your questions answered

Tried strips before?

Strips sit on the surface with no light, for up to 5 shades. The Advanced Kit adds an LED accelerator light: the blue light speeds up the gel so it reaches set-in stains, not just surface ones. Up to 8 shades whiter in 7 days, in 10 minutes a day.

Worried about sensitivity?

The formula is enamel safe and formulated to prevent sensitivity. If you already have sensitive teeth, check with a dental professional before you start.

Will the results fade?

A top-up every 2 weeks stops new stains building up, so your new shade stays bright.

Is it worth it?

The kit works out at £1.82 per treatment, or £1.21 with the Ultimate Set.

A sceptic converted!

I bought the whitening kit as a prolific tea and diet coke drinker; my teeth have dulled over the years. I was sceptical as I have bought kits before but found them too faffy, so I never stuck with them. This kit is so much easier. You just paint the gel onto your teeth, pop the light in your mouth for 10 mins and you are good to go.

Amazing results

Having reached 70 a few weeks ago, I was pretty sceptical about the claims I was reading regarding this product. I am sceptical no more. After just 7 days my teeth are looking whiter than they have for years.

Great!

I bought a kit for my son and after only a few uses noticed a difference. I’m off to buy one for myself now. Easy to use with great results!

LED teeth whitening: how it works, PAP and safety

How LED teeth whitening works

You paint the whitening gel onto your teeth with the pen, then switch on the LED mouthpiece for 10 minutes. The blue LED speeds up the gel, so each treatment is short. The red LED is designed to keep the treatment comfortable. The light is UKCA and CE marked, and it switches itself off after 10 minutes, so you never have to time it.

Do this once a day for 7 days for up to 8 shades whiter. Most customers see a noticeable difference after the first treatment. If you want to push it, you can run up to three 10-minute cycles in one session, keeping the same gel on.

PAP, our peroxide-free UK whitening formula

The gel in every SmilePro pen sold in the UK uses PAP (phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid) as its whitening ingredient, with potassium nitrate and hydroxyapatite in the formula. It is a peroxide-free formula, enamel safe, formulated to help prevent sensitivity in healthy teeth, and was developed by dental professionals. Every ingredient is listed on this page.

A home whitening kit or the dentist?

Whitening is not available on the NHS, so in the UK it is a private choice. A dentist can whiten your teeth in the surgery, or prescribe trays you wear at home. In-chair whitening often costs hundreds of pounds for one visit. The SmilePro kit takes 10 minutes a day for 7 days at home and costs £54.50 GBP for 30 treatments.

  • SmilePro Advanced Kit. Where: at home. Time: 10 minutes a day for 7 days. Cost: £54.50 GBP for 30 treatments. Check-up first: recommended if you have any dental concerns.
  • Dentist home trays. Where: at home, after an appointment. Time: as your dentist directs. Cost: private fee. Check-up first: yes.
  • In-surgery whitening. Where: at the dental surgery. Time: as your dentist directs. Cost: often hundreds of pounds. Check-up first: yes.

The NHS says the safest route is a dentist, and a dentist should check your teeth and gums first. If you have any dental concerns, book a check-up before you start.

Is a home teeth whitening kit right for you?

It suits you if you have healthy teeth and gums and want to lift stains from coffee, tea, red wine or smoking. It is not the right choice if:

  • your teeth are already sensitive or your gums are sore: see a dentist first
  • you wear braces, as the result can be uneven
  • you have thin enamel, teeth affected by injury, or stains from antibiotics, where it will not work
  • you want crowns, veneers or fillings to go whiter: it lifts surface stains on dental work but cannot make it whiter than its original colour
  • you are under 18, or pregnant or breastfeeding (the NHS also says whitening is not done for anyone aged 17 or under, and is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding)
  • you have gum disease, an oral infection or recent dental surgery, or amalgam fillings without consulting a dentist first

Do not use it for more than 14 consecutive days without a dentist's supervision, stop and see a dentist if your gums or mouth become irritated (redness, swelling or soreness), and do not swallow the gel. Avoid direct contact of the whitening gel with your gums, and avoid contact with your eyes.

How long do the results last?

How long your shade lasts depends on your diet and daily oral care. A 10-minute top-up every two weeks keeps the result going and helps stop new stains settling. Refill pens work with the light you already have: the Whitening Pen Pack (£19.00 GBP) has 3 pens and 30 treatments.

Maintain your result with our teeth whitening strips: wait 2 weeks after finishing a Kit course before you start a strips course.

Questions about the kit

Can't find your answer? Get in touch with our team.

How do I use the teeth whitening kit?
  • Apply the dental-grade formula to your teeth
  • Insert the mouth tray and switch on the accelerator light
  • Whiten for 10 minutes a day for 7 days. The light switches itself off at the end

Once you have the result you want, do a 10-minute session every 2 weeks to maintain it and help stop new stains building up.

What’s included in the teeth whitening kit?

Every kit includes:

  • Rechargeable, water-resistant LED accelerator light
  • 3 Advanced Teeth Whitening Pens (30 treatments)
  • Charging case (doubles as a travel case)
  • Charging cable (use it with or without the case)
  • Professional teeth shade guide
  • Step-by-step instruction guide
  • Fast dispatch and delivery
  • Support from our team of teeth whitening specialists
What's the difference between blue and red LED?

The blue LED accelerates the whitening gel to target the deepest stains in less time. The red LED light is designed for a more comfortable treatment. Use the blue and red settings together for the brightest result with the most comfort.

What types of stains does your product remove?

Our products work on surface stains, the most common cause of tooth discolouration. These are typically caused by tobacco, or by regularly drinking coffee, tea, wine or other coloured drinks such as cola.

Teeth also tend to look more yellow with age. Whitening can help here too, although how much depends on the thickness of your enamel. As we age, the core tissue of the tooth, the dentine, naturally yellows, and the enamel covering it thins through abrasion, letting more of the dentine show through.

For the best result we recommend using the Advanced Teeth Whitening Kit together with our Whitening Toothpaste.

How long does it take to see whitening results?

Most customers see a noticeable difference in the colour of their teeth after the first application. Ten minutes a day for 7 consecutive days gives the full result. For best results, you can run up to three 10-minute cycles in one session, keeping the same gel on.

Individual whitening results vary with your starting shade and the type of staining. Always follow the directions and cautions supplied with your product.

Can I eat or drink straight after whitening?

After each treatment, wait 1 hour before eating or drinking anything except water. After that, enjoy your usual coffee or tea, and rinse with water afterwards to help your results last.

Is my payment secure?

Yes 100%. Your payment is encrypted and secured and we offer a range of payment solutions.

When will I receive my shipment?

Orders to the UK ship from our warehouse in Swindon, UK. We aim to dispatch within 1 business day, and delivery takes 1 to 3 business days. Free tracked shipping on orders of £58 GBP or more.

How long will the whitening results last?

Keep your results going with a 10-minute top-up every 2 weeks. How long your shade lasts depends on your diet and daily oral care.

Is it painful?

No. Unlike a dental procedure, our kit uses blue LED light, which is not painful, and the gel is formulated to prevent sensitivity in healthy teeth.

Will it work for me?

It targets deep, set-in stains as well as surface ones, so even years of coffee, tea, red wine and smoking can lift, up to 8 shades whiter in 7 days. It won’t work for you if you have thin enamel, teeth trauma, or stains from antibiotics. If it doesn’t work for you, our 30-day money-back guarantee on the Advanced Kit has you covered. Email contact@smileproworldwide.com within 30 days of receiving your order, then send back the complete kit, including the LED light and used pens, with tracking. Return postage is not covered. See the full terms.

Can I use it on veneers, caps, crowns or other dental restorations?

Our products are safe to use on veneers, caps and crowns, and can remove surface stains that have built up on them over time. Keep in mind that they cannot make dental work whiter than its original colour. We do not recommend whitening while you have braces, as the result can be uneven.

Does the LED light do the whitening?

The gel does the whitening. The blue LED speeds it up so each treatment takes 10 minutes, and the red LED is designed for a more comfortable treatment. Always use the gel with the light, never on its own.

Can I use the gel without the light?

No. Always use the gel with the LED light. Paint the gel onto your teeth with the pen, put in the mouthpiece and switch on the light for the 10-minute treatment, as the instructions describe. Refill pens with the same teeth whitening gel come in the Whitening Pen Pack.

Is LED teeth whitening safe?

The SmilePro light is UKCA and CE marked, rechargeable and water-resistant, and switches itself off after 10 minutes. The gel is enamel safe and formulated to help prevent sensitivity in healthy teeth. If your teeth are already sensitive, see a dentist first.

What is PAP teeth whitening?

PAP (phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid) is the whitening ingredient in SmilePro's UK gel and strips, so our PAP formula is peroxide free. In the kit, the gel is used with the blue and red LED light. Every ingredient is listed on this page.

How is the kit different from whitening strips?

Both are used once a day for a 7-day course. The kit takes 10 minutes a treatment with a blue and red LED light and whitens up to 8 shades in 7 days. Teeth whitening strips take 30 minutes, need no light and whiten up to 5 shades; the pack's 14 treatments are the 7-day course plus 7 top-ups, used one every 2 weeks, or once a week if you drink a lot of coffee, tea or red wine. If you use both, wait 2 weeks between finishing a course with one and starting a course with the other.

Can I do more than one 10-minute session a day?

Yes. You can run up to three 10-minute cycles in one session if you want a stronger result. Keep the same gel on: there is no need to add more between cycles.

Is the kit cheaper than whitening at the dentist?

The kit is £54.50 GBP for 30 treatments, about £1.82 a treatment. In-chair whitening at the dentist often costs hundreds of pounds for one visit. A dentist is still the right person if you have any dental concerns.
